It was with sudden shock and great sadness that we learned of the death of our teammate and club member Amy English yesterday afternoon. Amy was a member of our senior women’s squad, and was a popular, enthusiastic and talented member of the team. Amy had played underage football with Trim Celtic, among other sides including Kentstown Rovers and returned to play football with Torro United upon the starting of the senior women’s side.
This was a natural fit given that Amy’s father and brothers had all played with Torro over the years. One of her proudest moments was winning the women’s tournament at the Festival of Football in County Meath in July 2019, with her father, James by her side, as a coach with the team. She will be truly missed by her teammates and coaches and all of us involved with Torro United AFC.
